Journey up the coast of South Africa

After a few meetings with planners and sponsors, it’s been suggested that we change the route of the Long Ride To Freedom slightly to hug the coast of South Africa instead of the partial inland route we had planned initially. This allows people who cannot take 31 days off work to be able to fly into certain airports and do the leg of the journey they’d like to do. It also worked out well because it follows the fibre route along the coast of South Africa.

In October, we head up the coast of South Africa to reverse plan the route for the 2019 ride. Our goals are as follows.

  1. Reverse plan the route from Cape Town to Johannesburg. (in 2019 it will be from Johannesburg to Cape Town)
  2. Hold full-day seminars to educate people about Ecommerce.
  3. Hold full-day seminars to teach people about digital disruption and what people can do to start preparing for job losses.
  4. Identify plots of land where we can build Innovation Hubs for Social Entrepreneurs – Part of the Leaderless project

These seminars will be held in conjunction with the Ecommerce Forum of Africa whose goals it is to improve the uptake of Ecommerce into Africa.

Three of us will be leaving up the coast. Lebohang Likhojane of SmartSentials.co.za, Philip Redelinghuys, our videographer and myself to deliver the talks in as many languages as we can to as many people as we can.

Leading up to October, our goals are to speak to chambers of commerce, tourism offices and educational bodies to help organise this event so that it can become an annual event.
